Burnie Community House workshops.
April 2009: Christine Lai and Maria Perez-Pulido volunteered their time to meet, once a week for four weeks, with eight (disadvantaged) children from the Community house, and two carers.
The children loved the sessions and so did the adults who took the children! At least once a year, Burnie Taiko make the time to work with other community groups which, having a limited budget, would not otherwise have the funds to make their projects a reality.

All Australia Wadaiko Festival.
Burnie Taiko had a presence at the All Australia Wadaiko Festival which was held in Melbourne during September 2008. We had a segment in the concert, as well as joining in with the other Festival participants in a joint piece. There were also workshops, and it was a great chance to meet and share with other Australian taiko enthusiasts. Two pictures are here.
Active After School Community (AASC) Program
After successfully completing the official Community Coach training course from the Australian Sports Commission, members of Burnie Taiko delivered ten (10) AASC workshops during 2007. Participating schools were Havenview Primary (see photos) and Upper Burnie Primary School.
This program will continue until 2010.
